📍This is an on-site unpaid internship based out of our Begumpet office in Hyderabad. This internship is offered in barter, exchanged with certificates courses that are being conducted at Pause during their period of internship.

We are often asked why we put up stories about the terrible things happening in the world? That it feels like spreading the same negative ‘vibe’ and a mental health org should be in its lane.
We believe that mental health is political. Being in the world and being human in the world is our lane. We sit with and grapple with the impact of what is showing up in the world and what it does to our communities and our minds and beings

Some questions we sit with are :

What impact does oppression have on bodies that are violated and marginalised by privileged bodies? What does it do to everyday living and navigating the world amidst real and potential harm?

What impact do you think privilege has on the bodies of those who live within identities that historically oppress people?

Mental health is political because of ways in which what is within us-our sense of self, our trust in our agency and access to it and mobilisation of it, become systemically stripped away for the benefit of some over the marginalisation of others. It is time we think about how the personal is political and work towards the liberation of all. No one is free until everyone is free.

UPDATE: 8th Jan 11pm. We have received an overwhelming response on the first day itself. We are moved by how many folks really do need therapy and cannot afford the same. We hope to first meet with the people who have registered with us before we can open the form back again. Please come back in 15 days to recheck if the form is open for registrations.

Three month short term offering of free therapy at Pause for Perspective starts again! Sessions are from January to March 2024.
We are able to serve only the first 200 clients who sign up.

Supervised trainee therapists at Pause will be conducting in person and online sessions. In order to schedule an appointment please fill out the Google form. Link to the google form is in our bio.

Our trainees are in training at St.Francis Degree College and supervised by clinicians at Pause for Perspective. They are able to work with you in short term basis only and support you to resources for ongoing work.

Safe spaces and Quiet Reading Nooks is an opportunity to come together as people to embrace what feels odd, crazy, joyous, different and at the same time warm, gentle and fun within us. This is an opportunity to unpack what may be difficult while also holding ideas and experiences inside of us with a certain kind of ease; books can do that for us.
What we’ll do: We read picture books together, loudly, quietly, cryingly and laughingly and reflect on the specific ways life may show up for the characters in the books and characters in the group, the participants in the circle!

3. Story telling circle.
We are multidimensional beings and our stories are multidimensional. When we meet with the multidimensionality of life, it becomes possible to take up space and also allow people to be in the ways that they can thrive. The story telling circle is a unique Pause Library event for people who write stories, love stories and want to share stories in a circle, with a people who center mental health, lived experience and its expressions through prose. The hope is to center the writer, the story, the characters and how they resonate for us and celebrate the story telling process itself and in that collectively explore, express and embrace parts of ourselves and others.

Grief is political. It is simultaneous, repetitive, unending, circular. This is why it needs a community to hold it, because our nervous systems deserve connection to heal and process.
In times where people are navigating different kinds of grief such as the loss of a way of life, loss of livelihood, loss of human life, and other losses due to structural violence, we often feel disenfranchised from our grief and deprived of healing if we’re not supported.
The intention of the group is to sit in solidarity and to make room for grief, anger, love, protest, to hold and support multiple forms of loss. To remember to not do it alone.
The circle will involve some breath and body-based work.
All sharings are optional and are scaffolded so that people can engage in ways that feel comfortable, honouring each individual’s range.
Who can join
Given the current times we live in, each one of us is experiencing grief in varied intensity and we are going to feel, and we must, rightly so, enough to support our movement towards what we all really want collectively. Isolation is the work of oppression.
Anyone experiencing grief and wish to be in a safe space where they are heard and can speak to their loss is welcome to join.

‘how do we be alongside those who are and have been violated and are suffering-responding to injustices?’
In this three-day workshop, we will explore:
• the politics of trauma experience , navigating into landscapes of subjugated stories of response,
• pay close attention to the wisdom of our bodies and breath and explore the Absent but Implicit map to develop richer stories of communities and people’s know-hows in response to trauma.
• We will explore the many ways in which our bodies are a site for liberation, protest and resistance and weave this knowledge with stories that are already present in our lives of our know-hows in responding to trauma.

Our work with the QT center is a weekly presence since June 2023. We have been exploring ways in which mental health is experienced, understood and navigated by the community.

As people who have been given the assignment of holding this precious space with care, we as MHPs who also share the identities of queer and trans margins, come from the stance of open enquiry and exploration.

Mental health work at QTC entails, deconstructing ascribed meanings given to our internal experiences and reclaiming our mental health in ways that support us to create communities that care for each other and that offers solidarity to resist normativity.

All our workshops ensure that we work towards centering peoples know-hows and that we create a collective definition of care, healing and support. We use art, somatic work, picture books, mindfulness and narrative maps to explore different ways of being.

In light of the escalating military response in Gaza, we share this note to all, especially parents/guardians, to exercise due care & caution regarding exposure to social media.

Images containing distressing details may deeply affect not only children but also other vulnerable individuals. Children with their vivid imaginations are constantly trying to make sense of the world. Exposure to violent information without context or nuance can have a profound/severe impact on emotional and psychological well-being.

In times of conflict, promoting emotional space, understanding, and care is crucial. Please check in with your children about what they’re consuming on social media and how they’re processing it, ensuring they have a safe and nurturing environment. It would be safer to let the children know about the war in Palestine through softer, grounded conversations with trusted adults.

As adults, we can engage with the world in ethical and conscious ways, like recognizing privilege, while also experiencing deep helplessness and fear. Times like this remind us about what being othered can do to all bodies, as our bodies are a site of liberation, protest and resistance.

At Pause, we think it's time that we decenter thinking about collective care as adult centered and neuronormative.The most vulnerable group anywhere in the world are children and we believe starting a conversation around their care can only eventually become a conversation about collective care. After all, this is about the world we are asking them to inhabit, and also the state in which we are leaving it for their future.

We share this note with full acknowledgement that this care is a privilege that millions of children and people across the world do not have and will possibly never.
