- Amala Manohar Vaidya
With an unconventional and robust education in Theatre, Literature, Psychology, and Expressive Arts Therapy, Amala is a self-described shapeshifting multi-hyphenate therapist.
As a queer and neurodivergent individual, they ensure their practice is intersectional, well-informed, and inclusive. Amala believes it is essential to pathologize the cultures and oppressive systems we find ourselves in, rather than pathologizing the individual.
Their approach is informed by a variety of lenses, including Jungian depth psychology, human-centered approaches, mindfulness, and narrative-based practices. Additionally, they integrate somatic practices with a strong focus on nervous system regulation. Amala also practices Playback Theatre from a psychotherapeutic perspective. In this context, Playback Theatre integrates body awareness, movement, and emotional expression to promote healing and self-understanding.
They also teach Theatre to children with special needs, using it as a therapeutic intervention to foster growth and development. Amala strongly believes that healing takes place on a collective level and is dedicated to working with groups to build supportive ecosystems and resources for individuals.
